Time: 1030- 1200 | Module 1: Harnessing AI to Model & Mitigate Terror Group Behavior

The use of AI-based methods to develop predictive models of terrorist group behavior
  • How to represent and store relevant data
  • How to leverage off the shelf machine learning models to make predictions
  • How to explain the predictions through simple, easy to use, temporal probabilistic rules
  • How to shape policy to mitigate terror group behavior using advanced AI techniques
  • Threats in the Near Future and the Use of AI to Mitigate such Threats

Case studies from the Northwestern Security & AI Lab’s monthly terrorism forecasts about six terror groups from around the world

The Northwestern Terror Early Warning System (NTEWS) reports use AI and Machine Learning to predict potential targets of six terrorist groups—Boko Haram, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Abu Sayyaf, Al Shabaab, JNIM, and Indian Mujahideen for six months based solely on publicly available data. This helps with the goal to support counterterrorism efforts by providing actionable insights. Sign up for the reports using an official email at https://lnkd.in/gnYpKUyi.

Time: 1200-1300 | Module 2: AI for Modeling & Border Conflicts

Advanced methods to reason about border conflicts with a focus on the India-China border.
  • How to represent and store relevant data
  • Geospatial analysis of border conflict with a focus on the China-India border
  • Leveraging AI to perform such geospatial analysis
